You open a 3,000-word document on your iPhone. You need the section on database schema. You scroll. And scroll. And scroll. There is no outline. There never has been.
Your markdown editor costs $19.99 — or charges you every month — and it still cannot show you where you are in your own document. The feature has been “coming soon” for five years. Meanwhile, your files are locked in a proprietary format, your subscription renewed last week, and switching means losing your formatting.
No outline on iPhone
The most-requested feature in iOS markdown editors for over five years. Still missing from every major competitor.
Your files, held hostage
Proprietary formats. Hidden metadata. Databases that make switching cost you time and formatting. Your markdown stopped being yours.
Subscriptions that never end
$29.99 a year. $49.99 a year. For a text editor. Every year. The subscription model was never about giving you more.
Three taps. That's it.
Download and open
Buy once from the App Store. Open a new document. Your editor is ready in under two seconds. No account. No onboarding wizard. No permissions.
Write, navigate, capture
Type markdown with live syntax highlighting. Tap the outline to jump between headings. Dictate on your Apple Watch. Everything syncs automatically through iCloud Drive.
Own your files forever
Export to HTML, PDF, or raw .md in a tap. Open your files in any editor. Your data stays in iCloud Drive, in your format, under your control. No vendor lock-in. No exit barrier.
Everything a markdown editor should be.
Nothing it shouldn't.
Document outline
Jump to any heading in your document instantly. The feature every iOS markdown user has been waiting for — on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Day one.
Live preview
Side-by-side on iPad and Mac. Tabbed on iPhone. See your markdown rendered in real time as you write. GFM tables, code blocks, and task lists — all rendered correctly.
Apple Watch capture
Dictate a thought on your wrist. It syncs as a .md file before you sit down. Browse and read your notes offline. One-tap capture from the watch face complication.
Focus mode
Dims everything except the current paragraph. Pure-black OLED dark mode. No distractions, no chrome, no noise. Just your words and the screen.
Plain .md files
Standard markdown in iCloud Drive. No proprietary format, no hidden metadata, no database. Open your files in VS Code, BBEdit, or any editor — they look exactly the same.
Export anywhere
HTML with styled light and dark themes. PDF with clean formatting. Raw markdown. One tap. Your documents go where you need them, in the format you choose.
One editor. Every Apple device.
iPhone. iPad. Mac. Apple Watch. Same files, same outline, same simplicity.
AI writes in markdown.
Now read it natively.
Claude Code, ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot all output markdown. Architecture docs. Code reviews. Meeting summaries. Spec files. The output keeps growing — and your iPhone needs a real editor for it.
Krux stores and renders GitHub Flavored Markdown natively. Your AI-generated files stay as clean .md files that feed right back into your workflow. No reformatting. No conversion. No friction.

Questions? Straight answers.
What makes Krux different from other markdown editors?
The document outline. Krux ships a real document outline on iPhone and iPad — a feature iOS markdown users have been requesting for over five years. Krux costs a fraction of the leading alternatives and includes an Apple Watch companion app at no extra charge. Your files stay as plain .md in iCloud Drive.
Is there really no subscription?
No subscription. No in-app purchases. No “Pro” tier waiting behind a paywall. You pay $4.99 once for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. $9.99 once for Mac. That is it. There is no StoreKit subscription code in the app. Updates are included.
What file format does Krux use?
Standard .md (markdown) files stored in iCloud Drive. You can see them in the Files app on iPhone and Finder on Mac. Open any Krux file in VS Code, BBEdit, or any text editor — it looks exactly the same. No proprietary format, no hidden metadata, no database.
Does Krux collect any data?
Zero. Krux has no analytics, no crash reporting, no network calls to third-party servers, and no account system. This is confirmed by Apple's required PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy declaration, which states: no data collected, no data tracked.
Does the Apple Watch app work offline?
Yes. Notes sync to your Watch via WatchConnectivity and are available offline. You can browse, read, and dictate new notes without your iPhone nearby. New dictated notes sync back when your devices reconnect.
What version of iOS does Krux require?
iOS 26 or later. Krux is built natively for iOS 26 with the Liquid Glass design language. It uses Swift 6.2 and the latest Apple frameworks. This means you get a modern app that looks and feels like it belongs on your device — not a retrofit of an older design.
Can I use Krux with AI tools like Claude Code or ChatGPT?
Absolutely. AI tools output markdown. Krux reads, renders, and stores that markdown natively as .md files. Save AI output to iCloud Drive, open it in Krux, navigate it with the outline, edit it, and send it back. No format conversion needed.
Will there be future updates?
Yes. Krux is actively developed. Updates are included with your one-time purchase. Future major feature additions may be offered as optional paid upgrades, but the app you buy today will continue to work and receive maintenance updates.
Your files. Your format.
Your editor. Forever.
Open a 5,000-word document on your iPhone. Tap the outline. Jump to the section you need. Add a thought on your Watch while walking to a meeting. Export a clean PDF in one tap. Your files are plain .md in iCloud Drive — readable in any editor, on any device, forever.
No account required. No data collected. No subscription. Just a markdown editor that respects your files and your time.
